For Week Eight, I learned the Third Chapter of UI design regarding colors in DesignLab
Color
Value/Hue/Saturation
Value - color’s relative lightness or darkness
Hue - primary / secondary colors - red/orange/yellow/green/blue/indigo/violet
Saturation - subtle/vibrant
Monochromatic color scheme: single hue in different values
Analogous color scheme: color sit next to one another on the color wheel
Complementary colors: opposite colors on the color wheel
Split Complementary: colors on either side of the complement
Triadic: colors equally spaced from one another
Tetradic: double complementary
HSV system - hue saturation value
Use light and dark variations
Use neutral colors
Wise use of black and white
60-30-10 rule
Color accessibility
- pair color with text labels
- mix colors and symbols
- make links distinct
-choose your starting color with the understanding of the brand and audience
-lower the value to create a darker version of the starting color
-lighten
-find neutrals (whites, blacks, and greys)
